Interested in working on this project?
The more people we can get involved in this project the better! There are many possibilities for how to participate so the following list is certainly not exhaustive. If you have other ideas for how to contribute to this project, contact us to discuss!
Here are some of the things we currently need people to work on. Note that these are not paid positions. This site has been created and is maintained by a team of volunteers dedicated to the goal of promoting the various forms of experiential psychotherapy:
(1) Create your own new original video content: We are always working on additional high quality video content for each of the schools of experiential therapy so if you have ideas let us know and we’ll see where it would fit best. Every video tutorial should impart the viewer with some new knowledge or understanding about how to practice a particular form of therapy. Videos that are simply an advertisement for a form of therapy but don’t teach the viewer anything about how to do it will not be a good fit for this site. As you’ve probably already noticed, video tutorials that are of a general or introductory nature tend to be offered for free here, whereas demonstration sessions and more detailed tutorials that teach the viewer specific skills are often offered for a fee, most of which is kept by the content creators. So if you already have content you think would be a good fit, or if you have ideas for new content you could create, contact us to discuss!
(2) Interview experiential practitioners: We need help fleshing out the “interviews with experiential practitioners” section. Interviews may focus on that practitioner’s particular school of therapy or may be about their experience of working experientially in general. Interviews are conducted via videoconference software ( Zoom) or in person. We have a format for interviews that you can follow but if you have interesting ideas contact us and we are happy to discuss those too!
(3) Help expert practitioners create original video tutorial content. Numerous experienced practitioners have expressed interest in creating tutorials but don’t have the camera setup to do it on their own. Most report that they find it easier to talk to another person than to a camera in a room all by themselves. The most effective solution we’ve come up with so far is to conduct interviews via Zoom using pre-arranged questions to help structure their presentation. Then we edit the interview into a professional final product. We will need help conducting those interviews and doing the video editing so if you think either of these are something you’d be good at, contact us!
(4) Write blog articles: The blog will be comprised of guest contributors writing articles on any aspect of experiential psychotherapy. You could write about anything related to a particular form of experiential therapy that you practice, or anything relating to experiential psychotherapy in general. The vision for the blog section is pretty wide open so if you have ideas and feel you’d be good at writing some portion of this material, definitely contact us!
(5) Web development: This is a large and complex site with some components that are time consuming to maintain and some components that can at times be technically above our heads. It is costly to hire web developers to help with these elements and we would love to have volunteers with the requisite skills that we could call on when needed. We occasionally need help with the site itself and also need help with ancillary services like Mailchimp (which is a very powerful tool if used to its full capacity but we’ll need guidance about how to do that!) If you would be able and interested in helping out that would be much appreciated, so most definitely contact us!
(6) Marketing and Publicity: Since one of our primary goals is to spread the word about experiential therapy as far and wide as possible, we will be working hard to market and publicize our site and many of the particular video tutorials within it. This will mainly be done using Adwords on YouTube and Google. We are open to other marketing ideas as well. If you have expertise in this area, or if you just have time to dedicate to the work of creating Adword campaigns, please contact us!
(7) Help create animated videos describing each school of therapy: We will be creating an animated video for each form of experiential therapy to capture in a nutshell what it is that makes that school unique. These videos will be posted on YouTube in order to increase awareness of each experiential school among practitioners as well as the general public. We need help consulting experts from each school so as to form a consensus on what are the most important and unique characteristics of that school and how best to represent it through animation. Sound like your kind of project? Please contact us!
(8) Help us get maximum benefit from our Mailchimp mailing list: Mailchimp is such a potentially powerful marketing tool and one could probably get a postgraduate degree in its many uses but none of us have that. If you have advanced skills in how to use tags, groups, segments, how to run A/B campaigns, etc. and love to do that kind of thing, by all means contact us to discuss!
(9) Help us maximize the benefit of Google Adword campaigns: We will be running Adwords campaigns in order to publicize every for-fee video tutorial on the site. If you have expertise in how to maximize the effect of Adwords campaigns, we certainly could use your help, so contact us to discuss!
(10) Administrative tasks: There are many aspects of maintaining and publicizing this site that are relatively simple yet time consuming. We are constantly updating the site, which often involves repetitive tasks like making the same change to a dozen or more pages at a time, requiring minimal technical knowledge but lots of mouse clicks.
